Allow me to share a story and lesson I've learned for almost two decades of my existence here on Earth.
When I was a kid, my grandfather asked me if I can help him plant sweet potatoes in the backyard. Without any hesitation, I said yes. As we continue to plant, we have a little conversation about the trees.
"The trees have a life, as well as other creature. Take care of them and they will love you", my grandfather said.
"They do not talk so they don't have a life", I said.
My grandfather smiled at me and said "One day when you enter the school, you will know what I mean."
That was the day and moment I will never forget. That was the day I promised to myself that I will follow what he had said to me, but before I entered grade school, my grandfather died. I am still thankful because though he is not with me anymore, I still have a moment to remember with my grandfather.
During my elementary days, there is one lesson that really caught my attention and has been kept in my mind always, the lectures on Photosynthesis, where I realize my late grandfather's point. It's the Carbon Dioxide we emit so the plants can undergo the process. We need plants, and they also need us. The benefits are mutual. Living or non-living things contributes to our physical and emotional feelings.
The things around us may not be able to talk to us, but everything around us has something to teach. It is us, the people that has to look for their thoughts.
As the tree increases and begins to change its shape, it makes the birds happier. Our lives resemble the branches of a tree, the older we get, the more we realize our worth and begin to face different directions to discover the unlimited potential we have to open a door of hope for others.
Those birds that dwell in the tree make its own creative rhythm and composition. We should live like a bird. Let us amuse ourselves with our own talent and welcome the morning with a music of hope that enjoys every minute of the day so there will be no regrets in our heart.
Firm mountains where the tree is rooted have something to share. It taught as to try hard as we can, though the way on top is a valley of trouble, we should overcome our fear and let success chase us. We have to keep our self on the ground like mountains so the persons in need can reach us easier. Our hands were made not only for our own benefit but because it is an extension of our goodwill.
Unfortunately, those who said they love flowers and pull it from the soil do not really love. If a flower is being pulled, its life span decreases. Getting the flower is not considered love, it is pleasure. Because if you truly love a person or a thing, you won't hurt it. “Love and Pleasure” are two different ideas. We act selflessly when we make things with love, while on the latter; we became less caring on other's feeling.
It’s a pretty scenario to see a butterfly in the meadows, but behind its graceful presence is a struggle and long patience before it can spread its wings. Once a caterpillar, who dreamed of becoming free in the fields. The Lord loves surprises, he sprinkled sparkling dust on the caterpillar in exchange of its perseverance. Like us, we all want to become someone special. Though life is difficult and we face challenges around us, we still have to fight for ourselves and be the master of our fate.
Big or small animal contributes to our society. Like every one of us, no matter what is our position or educational attainment in this world, we are all important. We have to trust our capabilities and appreciate the beauty of the life given to us.
